Halloween Story Outline
Objectives :
- Prepare a Halloween story using the checklist provided. (Integrate 10 sounds, 20 Halloween Vocabulary nouns, 20 verbs in the simple present & third person singular – he/ she/ it, 10 adjectives and many pictures.
- Make sure the story has dialogue because it will be a Google Slide presentation with pictures, sounds & “bubbles”: dialogue/ quotations for what each character says
- Include some narration
- It MUST be in the simple present tense.
- Minimal use of other tenses will be accepted if used appropriately (use resources)
- Who are the 2 main characters? What are their roles/ costumes?
- Name

Before you write: - Choose a storyline & make SIMPLE sentences (S,V,O sentences).
- Use the outline to have a clear idea of the storyline BEFORE you start writing.
First Computer Lab: - Work as a team to write your story on a Word document. Divide task equally. You get 1 mark for the written part.
- USE these 2 files: Halloween Checklist (on paper) + ORIGINAL Halloween Rough Draft .
- Rename them to include your names instead of my name
Rough Draft: (ALWAYS do more than the required minimum) - Use the “Halloween Story Outline” to write a simple story in the present tense
- Include an introduction + plot/ action + conclusion
- Fill-in the “Halloween Story Checklist” as you are writing the text
- Make sure you are using he/ she/ it verbs (min. 20). Repeated he/ she/ it verbs count only once. Underline all present tense verbs + highlight the 3rd person singular verbs.
- Make sure you have Halloween Nouns (min. 20). Repeated Halloween Vocabulary counts once. Your Halloween Nouns must be bold.
- Add 10 adjectives minimum to color your text. Underscore all adjectives.
Completed Rough Draft: - Before you print: re-read and make sure that your Checklist is in the same order as your table. Show me any corrections or use of resources in green.
- Print: Halloween Rough Draft.
- After your text is printed. Re-read and add editing symbols. You will be evaluated on the rough draft. CHECK your "table" to ensure that everything is there.
- Give me your printed Rough Draft + Outline + Halloween Checklist + "turn in" your Google Doc.
- Have fun creating your story in Google Slides while using pictures & sounds, backgrounds, animation… Use your original Rough Draft by copying it into your book. Make sure to include both your names .
Final Draft: - After your work is corrected: do your corrections/ modifications on your Google Slides text. Clarify and/ add any missing information.
- BOLD all Halloween nouns (min. 20)
- < > ALL present tense verbs < > present tense verbs in 3rd person singular: (he/ she/ it) (min. 20) < > (min. 10). Practice + study for your oral with sounds
- Practice your oral presentation with your partner
- Save a copy of your PowerPoint on your USB
- Study at home
- Presentations will be Oct. 29 and Nov. 3
